The Crimson Fly!

Hey all!
As you might have noticed, there haven’t been any comics for a few weeks.
And, before that, the updates were pencil mocomics, rather than finished anicomics.
To say nothing of Globalcomix and Webtoon updates stopping entirely.

The problem is/was that one of the last finished comics, “Play,” was very intensive to figure out how to accomplish the animation of.
Normally I go for either purely frame-by-frame traditional animation, or a mix of symbols and frame-by-frame, but that one was more complicated than I’d have liked, due to how action-intensive it was. And not just for a single panel or three, like most other strips, but rather for every panel of the strip. And while I knew what I wanted to do….
…actually doing it pushed me off schedule more than I realized.

While it is/was feasible to keep pushing out pencils and get caught up retroactively on the back end,
it means making excuses and pushing myself back further and further, which is not a great way to be.
It also defeats the purpose of this comic as a uniquely digital experience, which, is one of the main reasons for doing it.

To that end, I want to take a one-month hiatus (Starting now, ending in August) and get caught up on the strips I was supposed to have finished and colored. Maybe even get some early access advanced art-ing done as well. Nothing will change on the site, barring the update of the unfinished strips, but I will be posting updates of the the unfinished comics on social media as they drop/get updated.
